Easy Ways to Recycle Plastic Bags At Home

Plastic bags serve various purposes within and outside the home and made from polyethylene. It’s no news most items made from plastic end up in the sea - polluting marine life, causing death to the animals in the sea and polluting the ecosystem. 

Scientist says that before the year 2020, we should take caution to reduce the rate at which plastic items like straws, bags, and cups end up at sea to avoid animals in the sea perishing from suffocation and chemical ingestion. 

Going green and taking control of your environment is a great way to preserve the ecosystem. Certain types of plastics are not reusable without the risk of a health hazard. Recyclable plastics should be reused even after the first use. The plastic bag is a recyclable item, consider reusing a used plastic bag for the following function.

For Lining Garbage Bins

A great way to recycle a plastic bag at home is to use them to line your trash can. Because of its ability to hold water, it’s perfect for this purpose. Cut the plastic bag open and arrange it at the bottom of your bin to keep trash and moist from leaking into your container. It can also serve as garbage bins around your home or in your car. 

Grocery Bags

Plastic bags are reusable as grocery bags so long they are still firm and hole free. Keep them in your car or take one from home when you go grocery shopping–as it saves you money if you have to buy another and also reduce littering your home with too much plastic bags. 

For Wraps

Plastic bags come in handy as wraps for delicate items. For packing or wrapping up of fragile items like heirlooms or glass figurines. Before storing away, consider using the plastic bag as it offers protection. The plastic bag is also an excellent choice for packing valuables when you are moving as it provides extra padding. 

Filling Up Your Pillowcase

Your plastic bag can replace your pillow stuffing. In place of pillow stuffing, ball up plastic bags and fill your pillowcase with it. It’s also a great choice in making your dog bed.

For Surface Protection

Using plastic bags to cover surfaces to avoid them getting dirty is a great way to keep the home neat and keep stains from permanently defacing a surface. Plastic bags would protect your countertop during craftwork and your kitchen counter while cooking. 

You can use any of these tips to reduce the amount of plastic bags you throw out into the trash.
